Blog Action Day – H for Hunger

Today is Blog Action Day, an annual nonprofit event where the world’s bloggers post about the same issue on the same day to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion. The issue for discussion this year, is poverty.

For those of you who’ve been keeping tabs on what Henry Rollins has been doing this year, you’ll know that in July, he spent a month in Thailand filming for an upcoming documentary H for Hunger. The film is an English remake of F Comme Faim. The director, Neil Hollander, says of the film:

“H for Hunger will, I hope, be a radical departure from the normal film fare. It is an ambitious attempt to use the medium to address one of the world’s most pressing problems, how to feed the growing number of people that populate the underdeveloped regions.
Drama is carried to an extreme. Taboos are ignored. The viewer is addressed directly. The naked face of Hunger is revealed for what it is, a horrific, sickening scourge of mankind that could be and should be eliminated.”

Thank you Henry for bringing to the world this very important issue which affects us all. We fully support you!! I will watch this and listen to your very important message to us. It’s now the time to give up greed, corruption and violence. With all the money and technology in our world, we couldn’t be more wrong about our Earth and how we treat each other. We cannot afford to forget one another, so right on brother! We can change our world, remember it’s our home and our brothers and sisters. THE TIME IS NOW!! LET’S ALL CHANGE IT NOW!!

I’m looking forward to this movie. Well, as far as you can look forward seeing the drama that is going on in the world.

I don’t like the site though, no mention about any release date at all?

I am the producer of ‘H for Hunger’. The site was made for free as we are under budgeted and wanted to spend the money on the film.

The film has just been completed, May 2009, and is now on the festival route – Santa Cruz the first stop this week. When I get more funding I will release it theatrically and broadcast. Ths main problem is broadcasters know the tough film will not get ratings – so we have to fund the film ourselves.

Thank you for your passionate interest.

Just saw the movie today at the Santa Cruz Film Festival. It pulls no punches and is very powerful and disturbing – I wish every high school kid in America could see it.

“H for Hunger” will take you well outside of your comfort zone; you may not like everything you hear and see. But if you want to know what the world outside our comfortably overweight land of McDonalds and Walmart is like, go see it.

BTW, the link for the site referenced above (http://anewdawnoffilm.com) doesn’t seem to work…
