This poster was auctioned on eBay a few months ago but the winner never paid. I’ve decided to bypass eBay and offer it directly to Hello Henry’s readership.
This is an Australian poster promoting Henry Rollins spoken word tour in April / May 2001. The signature is authentic (of course!) and was obtained at one of the shows on this tour. The poster has been kept rolled up in storage since 2001 and is in excellent condition with no rips, tears or marks.
If you want this poster, contact me via the Hello Henry contact page and make me an offer. Will accept offers above $20 AUD or $14 USD. Shipping will be at cost (for shipping and packing tube). It will be shipped from Australia. Shipping to USA would be proximately $8 USD, please ask for a quote. Payment is via PayPal Only and is required within five days of the offer being accepted.
I’ll be accepting offers until Wednesday December 3rd, or until an offer is accepted.
The purchase of this poster will help support the costs associated with running the Hello Henry blog.
Note of caution from Peter Garrett fans (Midnight Oil’s front man was elected to office last year in Australia’s federal election and is now the Minister for Environment, Heritage and the Arts)… brace yourself for disappointment.
Hey everyone, I just want to take a moment today to suggest a few pointers to those planning on writing Indie 103 to express their disappointment about the station’s decision to move HIMH to Saturday nights. I know many of you have been loyal listeners for many years and are disappointed that you can no longer check out the show live because you’re working or doing your regular weekend thang.
The main thing I want to say is – Smart ass letters are fun, but they aren’t going to help your cause, in fact, they could hurt it. It’s counterproductive to annoy and insult the people whose decisions you wish to influence.
Why do I know this? Because I used to be involved in managing a radio station years ago (not Indie!), and before that I was an advocate. In other words, I know a thing or two about radio, and about effective lobbying.
The best way to express your disappointment is by doing so in a manner that provides constructive, polite feedback that will be useful to the station.
Let them know where you tune in from, if you listen via stream or radio. How long you’ve been listening to HIMH, how regularly you tune in to the show and the station (ie, is HIMH the only show you listen to on Indie? Did you start listening to other shows on Indie after tuning into HIMH?). Tell them how the move to Saturday nights will effect your ability to listen to the show. If you’re aware of others who have stopped listening to HIMH or do so less often since the move, let them know that as well. And of course, let them know how much you enjoy HIMH and appreciate Indie’s continued support for the show.
Henry Rollins sports his finest black t-shirt for the IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America) Heroes Gala on November 12. Henry Rollins was the Master of Ceremonies for the event. You can check out more photos from the Gala here.
Paul Rieckhoff is the founder and Executive Director of IAVA. You might remember him from this appearance on the Henry Rollins Show (click to view the video). He is the author of Chasing Ghosts and just one mighty impressive dude. Visit his website here.
Henry seems pretty upset over the way Indie 103 moved Harmony In My Head to Saturday nights, from its original time slot on Tuesdays. This show seems to be Henry’s passion, since music is his first love. And it sounds like he thinks this is some sort of demotion. I guess ultimately the ratings will tell the tale, but in the mean time we can do something to help Henry.
It’s not often we get to give something back to Henry. He gives a lot to us, answering emails, talking post-show, etc that 99.9% of other artists don’t take the time to do. So I would suggest we all contact Indie 103 to voice our displeasure. I think if enough of us get together to write, call, and generally make a pain of ourselves they might consider giving Henry his original time slot back. Maybe we could even come up with something to mail to the station, like Jericho fans and their “nuts” campaign to CBS, to make our presence even more well known. If anybody has any ideas as to what to send, please comment here we can decide together what would stand out to station management.
Hello Henry reader Zander emailed us the other day to let us know about some pics she took after Henry Rollins talking show on November 6, including this one of the infamous BON JOVIMOBILE.
