Before I was corrupted by rock n roll, I was an MJ fan! For me he goes down as the most famous case of Body Dysmorphic Disorder that was apparently never diagnosed. It’s not every day a King of Pop dies, so here’s a video of the Jackson 5. And before any hipsters out there laugh, even Henry Rollins has given The Jackson 5 a spin on his radio show!

Here’s a clip from the TV series Into The Night featuring Henry Rollins and Iranian photographer and exile Shirin Neshat. For each episode in the series two people from different walks of life were paired together and filmed for one night.
After filming Rollins turned into somewhat of a Neshat fanboy mentioning her at every opportunity in interviews (like this one – and how could you not, she’s pretty awesome. Check out her work here). This was about 2006. In the following year Henry visited Iran as a tourist (here’s just one interview in which it’s discussed) and now watches Iran with great interest. His latest blog post ..er.. I mean “dispatch” to Vanity Fair muses on the wisdom of the US administration’s response to the recent election.
Oh, and if you’re in need of a chuckle, check out the comments in response to his previous post on the Palin / Letterman affair.
Barred For Life

I recently learned about a cool new book in the works called Barred For Life. It’s about people inked with Black Flag’s infamous BARS logo. Starting in October the editors are going on tour to collect stories and take photos of anyone who is barred for life and keen to be part of the project.
Dates and photo shoot locations are currently being confirmed in the US, UK and Europe. Some dates and locations are yet to be worked out and the editors would appreciate hearing from anyone who could help in the following places in the US: Milwaukee, WI, Madison, WI, St. Louis, MO, Nashville, TN, Little Rock, AK, Plus France and Spain.

HIMH Radio Show Wrap Up

Hey peeps! Well once again my internet connection crapped out before the show’s end. Made it pretty close though. It hung in there long enough for me to hear Henry reference Alvin and the Chipmunks in declaring himself to be Alvin to the “The Bear’s” Dave.
Which got me thinking. What would I find if I typed in Henry Rollins and Chipmunks into the Googles? It’s not true that I have so much idle time that my mind is free to indulge in such pertinent matters, but it is curious and prone to pursuing pursuits of procrastination when writing up that all important PhD beckons (I clearly need to do this). Plus, I’ve been doing this blog long enough to know that the web is overflowing with insane craziness and thus if you seek, you shall find. And folks, I did find.
What I found is a band from Morgantown, West Virginia called Cryptorchid Chipmunk. On this page on Last.fm I encountered their catalog of tunes which include a song titled “Bryan Would Totally Let Henry Rollins Fuck Him Up The Anus”. You can find the lyrics here and the band’s Myspace page here.
Incidentally the Mutant Sounds site Henry referred to is probably this one http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com, which I link to on my MP3 blog. As you can see it is not a .com, ole Henry seems a little confuseled.
