I was a drug dealer living on the streets of Southern California. I was surrounded by people without souls. I had no soul. I ripped off my first Rollins Band tape from a K-Mart. It was ComeInAndBurn. It caught my attention. I went to a Where house Music store (don’t think the store is around any more) the next week and stole LifeTime and TheEndofSilence. My life was changed!! I still sold drugs and lived from place to place for the next few years but all the while I was studying Rollins word. Eventually I found the strength to pull myself up and start living what for me was a better life. I had the strength inside me all along. Rollins just told me and reminded me when I needed it most… that I did. I met him at a club in SLC a few years back after a performance. My exact words to him were, “Thank you for raising me”. As my father died when I was 2, I truly replaced the empty father slot with Henry Rollins. He said “Well… Thank You!”
Rollins has helped me through drug addiction, depression & a divorce in more recent times.. He has taught me that I must rely on myself before I can rely on anyone else. I still get goose bumps on my arms when I listen to his music and a song I have heard hundreds of times before just sinks in all over again.
Today I am a great Father and Husband. Thanks Hank.
I am not the best writer but I hope I have successfully expressed how important this man has been to my life.
Sincerely Jason SLC Utah
