A week ago I put a call out for submissions to a new zine I’m working on called ‘Sex, Donuts & Rock n Roll’. Thanks to everyone who answered the call! Some people have requested more time to get their contributions done so I’m extending the deadline to Monday June 20. See the link to the previous post if you missed it and want the run down on what it’s all about. An update since that post, the debut issue may come with a cd sampler …. still figuring out the details on that though. Anyway, it’s gonna be awesome! Greg Sage is on the cover, how can it not be?
Hey folks, occasionally people email me asking where they can find certain books or CDs by Henry Rollins. So I figured some people might find this useful. I’ve created an Amazon store featuring all things Henry Rollins related. Books, CDs, music, spoken word, digital downloads, (even his vast catalogue of B movies). HelloHenry is an Amazon affiliate. So when you buy something via this Amazon store you’ll be supporting this site. You can find the link below or click ‘Shop’ under the header on hellohenry.com
His new book ‘A Preferred Blur’ is currently available on pre-order for just $12.
Visit the Hello Henry, Henry Rollins Amazon Store.
That’s right dear Hello Henry reader, today you have a homework assignment. Today you are going to go to Gravatar.com and sign up for a free account. Why? You might have noticed that in the comments sections of each post on this blog, and most other blogs, a small box appears next to each comment left. The image displayed in this box will either be a boring old default image or your very own personalized gravatar. A gravatar is simply an image or avatar that is associated with your email address. So every time you leave a comment on a blog, this image will appear along with it.
How do you get a gravatar? It’s easy! Head on over to Gravatar.com, sign up and upload an image and assign it to your nominated email address. It’s that simple. Post a comment on Hello Henry and like magic, your gravatar it will appear! (well.. not quite, comments are moderated so after your comment has been approved it will appear… like magic!).
Need an image for your gravatar? Try one of these.
It’s Easter! Hope you’re all stuffing yourselves stupid with some chocolate filled treats. I would wish you all a Happy Easter, but I think that would be a rather disingenuous and patronizing gesture coming from an atheist. However, I am fully prepared to put aside life long held beliefs and gate crash a religious holiday if it involves chocolate.
Our New Host
Can you endure another boring update about our big server move? No? Too bad. I know this is mundane to read about from your end, but at HelloHenry HQ it’s rather exciting! This blog is now hosted at Media Temple one of the most reliable web hosts around. The old host was pretty reliable but their account options were too limited and expensive for our needs.
Our New Look
To celebrate our move (btw, I don’t think we’re the only ones to be moving right now… but more on that some other time) we’re working on a new design for HelloHenry. If you’re reading this via email or feed, come on over and check it out and let us know what you think. We think it looks pretty sweet. The design is still being tweaked as I write this… so if the layout changes before your eyes as you browse around… you’re not hallucinating, there’s just a code monkey on the other end coding about.
Email Now Working
Our email is working again, so please feel free to get in touch with your comments and post suggestions here.
Well the site is now located on a new server, the move has gone rather smoothly so far. You might notice a few weird things about, like images not showing up here and there, they’ll be sorted out soon. Our email is not being redirected to the right place yet, so please hold off with your spam, love letters and death threats until I give the green light.
Hey folks, this weekend I am moving the Hello Henry blog to a new server that will better cope with the increasing traffic from the internets. Consequently the site will experience some downtime of anywhere between 12 and 36 hours while the domain repropagates to the new host.
I promise that the T-Shirt tutorial I mentioned earlier will be the first post from the new server!
Email will also be disrupted. So if you need to contact me, hold off until I make a new post announcing the successful move. Thanks!
Just a quickie. I did promise to post a tutorial on creating your own Rollins tee on Monday, but I’m completely wrecked from a serious stint of sleep deprivation and don’t have that open eyelids thing happening long enough to format the post. So that will be posted tomorrow instead.
If you missed out on a limited edition copy of A Preferred Blur, follow the comments on the previous post. Apparently Amazon is taking pre-orders. If your subscribed to Henry’s dispatches you will have heard that they are bringing forward the release of the regular edition so you can get your hands on a copy sooner rather than later.
For the first time ever in the history of the Hello Henry blog, I’m starting to receive emails from people under the false impression that I am Henry Rollins. I have no idea why this is starting to happen all of a sudden. So let me set the record straight. I am not Henry Rollins. Never have been and never have claimed to be – the about page makes this clear (a fake Henry Rollins can be found here).
Yep, not Henry Rollins. Thank goodness! I couldn’t handle that work schedule. I like sleep. I can’t stand listening to Dee Dee King and if Harmony In My Head were my radio show I would have played Thin Lizzy’s FIGHTING record in its entirety by now. Hungry Ghosts and Vernon Reid would have received a few spins too.

Unfortunately I’ve exceeded the limit on my “unlimited” internet account (yeah, go figure), so they’ve slowed down my account to a point that makes it barely useable. Can check email, that’s about it. Consequently all planned Hello Henry posts will be on a hold till next week sometime… and no Harmony In My Head for me on Saturday. Thank goodness for the Rollins-Archive!.
Btw, in case you didn’t catch the news, HIMH is moving to KCRW.com. Which means the show will be broadcast live once again. Check out dispatches for the press release. It’s great that the show will be back live on the air real soon. You can still catch HIMH on Indie for the next two weeks.

Hey folks. Where ever you are in the world you’ve probably heard about the bushfires in Victoria, Australia that have taken the lives of almost 200 people and left 5000 homeless. I know there are a lot of Aussie’s who frequent this blog, I hope you’re all safe.
Many years ago I spent some time in Marysville which is 95km east of Melbourne. The whole town has been completely destroyed by the fires. Only a few buildings are left standing. I know folk who’ve lost property and some whose property are still under threat. It’s hard to comprehend that it’s no longer there, it was truly one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Financial Donations
If it is within your means, please consider making a donation to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal. Donations are accepted via credit card on their website, and all donations will go directly towards the appeal.
Material Goods Donations
If you’re in Australia and would like to show your support but are unable to make a financial donation, St Vinnies are accepting donations of material goods at their centers across Australia.
For Web Development Nerds
SitePoint is offering five ebooks of your choice for $29.95 USD, with all proceeds going towards the bushfire appeal. If you’re interested in CSS, html, photoshop, javascript and things of that nature, it’s a pretty good deal.
