Devotees of Henry’s spoken word material might recall him mentioning that he got to play ‘Mad Stan’ in a Batman movie. Here’s one scene from it. Think the character is based on Henry much? Hilarious!
Thanks to Micah for suggesting today’s post!

There’s a great interview with Henry Rollins in MCV (Melbourne Community Voice for Gay and Lesbian Readers). Henry has lots of cool things to say, as usual. Check it out!
Here’s a sweet sample:
“.. according to Rollins, he had “no idea [America] had so many lunatics”. “Barack Obama certainly brought all the racists out of the woodwork, and they’re making their presence known … I also think some people resent him because he’s smart. He’s a guy who the rest of the world likes, and I think some Americans like a President the rest of the world fears. And Obama doesn’t want to be feared. I don’t want my country being feared, thank you very much.”
Thank you to Michael for sending in the link!
Henry Rollins appeared on the Australian radio station Triple J yesterday and revealed the five bands he wished he had fronted (Hey, Triple stupid! Why do you only play Black Flag when Rollins is in the studio?). You can listen to the hour long segment HERE. HR played:
1. The Stains – Sick n’ Crazy
2. Negative Trend – How Ya Feeling
3. The Ruts – In A Rut
4. The Saints – Demolition Girl (live at the Hope & Anchor)
5. Big Brother and the Holding Company – Ball and Chain
Thanks to Mike for the heads up!

Some MTV dude sent me a link to this promo photo of Henry Rollins and RuPaul taken when Henry guest judged RuPaul’s Drag Race. Hello Henry reader Elizabeth sent in this link to a write up on the show (thanks, lady!). Folks in the USA can see a preview of the show here and apparently full episodes can be seen on the Logo TV website. All I can say is – RuPaul, that is some impressive hair!
Man, I can’t believe how few posts there’s been on Hello Henry the past month. It has flown by. I’ve been busy writing up my PhD and trying to keep a roof over my head (saw the Pixies too, freakin awesome!). Thank you to everyone who has emailed in Henry related links and goodies – I couldn’t do this blog without you! I’m posting a selection of them below, more will be posted later in the week.
1. I don’t know about you guys but I love Google Books! VJESCI alerted me to this cool Black Flag era article in Spin Magazine by Henry Rollins. Awesome!

2. VJESCI also sent in a link to a piece titled Henry Rollins, the problem of argument from celebrity authority & other stupid-yet-common logical fallacies. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but from the title I gather Henry’s outspokenness on certain issues did not go down too well with the author. Well, whaddya know, another person dissin’ Henry – get in line pal. There’s nothing new about that!
3. Guntattoogirl sent in a link to an interview with Henry Rollins on Village Voice in which HR insists he is not a renaissance man, he just likes to stay busy. Three words Henry: Beg. To. Differ. Check it out here.
4. Henry continues to shoot from the hip in his regular gig at Vantity Fair. mseidler suggested we take a look at his recent post on the Texas textbook controversy.
5. Black Flag gets a mention on SNL’s “Flags of the World” (thanks to VJESCI!)
Thanks to Mseidler, Guntattoogirl and VJESCI
Hey folks, my apologies for being MIA the past couple of weeks. It’s the writer’s curse. I’ve been working furiously on a new project that has had me transfixed and incapable of diverting my attention elsewhere. I hope to redress my Hello Henry neglect over the Easter break. Thanks for sticking around and I hope you have a chocolate filled holiday (if you’re lucky enough to have one – a holiday, or chocolate, or both!)
I’ve you’ve ever received a reply from Hello Henry to one of the comments you’ve posted on this blog, you may have received an email notification to let you know – but with nothing in it. It seems that Hello Henry has been plagued by a spate of BLOG COMMENT REPLY NOTIFICATION EMAIL FAIL! I don’t know how long this has been going on. A couple of courteous readers recently gave me a heads up (thank you!). I’ve remedied this situation with a new plugin that will notify you via email when someone has replied to your comment. Your email address will be kept private, of course. I hope that this, and the new threaded comment system will make for a better Hello Henry commenting experience!
