When Not to Interview Henry Rollins

Henry Rollins fans on the Twitters

Although Henry Rollins does not tweet, some of his fans sure do. I don’t quite understand the appeal of twitter myself, but I must admit it can be interesting to see what people are saying about ole HR, particularly while he is on tour. Heaps of people are tweeting about his shows the past few nights. “Inspiring” seems to be the most commonly used word to describe them. Pretty cool. Here are a few tweets about last night’s show:

AllieRaymond: Henry Rollins. Dude talked for three and a half hours without a break and without a drink of water. I was exhausted. He is not human!

rndmidnightbar: owners went to see Henry Rollins last night. The man should be on compulsory prescription for anyone disaffected with the world.

crikeyabi: Does Henry Rollins have ADD? 3 hours talking without even a drink of water. What a legend.

ADD? If the dude had Attention Deficit Disorder he could hardly concentrate for three hours! It’s more like ADHD, without the AD! Anyways, the purpose of this post is to tell you that Hello Henry has a new page that displays a live feed of the latest tweets about Henry Rollins. You can check it out here: http://hellohenry.com/twitter. It’s updated in real time. You can access it anytime by clicking the blue bird at the top of this page. Will it be an interesting read or a load of boring bollocks? Let’s find out…

Let There Be Rock Video

Aussie rockers the Hard Ons and Henry Rollins covering the AC/DC classic Let There Be Rock. I think it’s from around 1991? Blimey! That’s almost 20 years ago. Hands up if this makes you feel OLD! Worth getting your hands on a copy if you can, the B-side Carry Me Down is pretty cool too. It’s out of print but readily available in every format under the sun – 7″, 10″, 12″, CD and cassette. I have the Ltd Ed. 2×10″ version on Waterfront records (which is still trading as an online store). Regarding the Hard Ons, Iggy Pop says: “Man! These guys are great! I love the fat guy!”

Happy Holidays! Here’s your present..

Happy holidays folks! Only a few hours to go and we will no longer have to endure Christmas carols and those really bad string trios and duos that seem it pop up on every damn corner at this time of year. To help restore the damage done to your ear drums I’m going to direct you on over to the Revenge Radio blog for a punk rock treat. RR has just uploaded a bootleg of a Rollins Band show from the Rise Above tour. It was recorded at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne Australia on July 22nd, 2003.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday. Thank you so much for your support of Hello Henry over 2009. See you in 2010.

Joe Cole (1961 – 1991)

On December 19 1991, Henry Rollins’ best friend and roommate, Joe Cole, was shot and murdered during a robbery at the home they shared in Venice California. His murder remains unsolved. Joe Cole was a roadie for Black Flag and the Rollins Band. His memoirs of life on the road with the two bands were published after his death by 2.13.61 in the book Planet Joe. He also made a few films. God’s Movie was released by 2.13.61 and is now long out of print.
