What are your favourite Henry Rollins Interviews?

From time to time Hello Henry readers send in links to interviews with Henry. Because this isn’t really a “news” type fansite (there’s already the wonderful Rollins-News.com for that!) I haven’t always bothered to post them – unless they’re in the category of interview disasters, of course! However I thought it would be cool to add a list of the better Rollins interviews out there to the links page.

So what are your favorites? Please leave a comment or send in a message with your links (please note that comments are moderated so they won’t show up instantly).

Here’s an interview sent in by Hello Henry reader, Chris, which focuses on reading, books and literature: Henry Rollins Interview @ Found In The Margins

Henry Rollins, Strong Coffee & Juliana Hatfield

Fans of Juliana Hatfield will be no stranger to her song President Garfield about Henry Rollins, so perhaps this story about a close encounter with the man during the days of the Blake Babies will be no surprise (or is it?). The story comes straight from the online memoirs of Blake Babies guitarist John Strohm, who Henry belittled for his (lack of) coffee making skills. Thanks to Sonya for the subject of today’s post!

Hello Kato

kato.gifYears ago Henry had a cat named Kato. This cute little furball even had a mention on the 2.13.61 website as an honorary member of staff. Below is an excerpt from an interview with Maynard (Tool) and Henry where Kato makes an appearance:

(Henry’s cat saunters in.)

94e8_1_b.JPGRIP: Oh, a kitty. What’s his name?

HR: Kato. He was given to me by my management. They kind of just dumped him on my lap and said, “Merry Christmas and happy birthday combined.” he was like this big (makes a kitten-size measurement),and I was going, “Vet Bills. Cat pans. Hair. I don’t want you!” and I put him on the floor. And like a day later, I’m, oh, petting him and like two weeks later, “Oh, awww –”

MK: Like wandering around going, “Oh I bought him some booties!”

HR: Yeah, now I’ve got cat toys all over the place, pictures of him everywhere. I’ve got pictures of him in my backpack and I’m somewhere and I’ll like pull out the picture of the cat. “What are you looking at?” “The cat.” People come up, and all these girls go,”Awww –”

MK: Like hearing my grandmother, talk to her dog that way — “Ooo– puppy!” and I said I’d never do that, ever! And now I have two dogs and I talk like an imbecile! I wander around, “Ooo! You want food!” I’ve turned into a fucking moron.

Interview Disasters Part 1.

If you want to interview Henry, it’s a good idea to arrange this with your interviewee prior to showing up. Journalist Marty Beckerman shares his story of scamming his way into a Rollins show as a 16 year old to do an interview with the man that was never scheduled. He was dealt with by Rollins accordingly…
