Devotees of Henry’s spoken word material might recall him mentioning that he got to play ‘Mad Stan’ in a Batman movie. Here’s one scene from it. Think the character is based on Henry much? Hilarious!
Thanks to Micah for suggesting today’s post!
Today we have a couple of interviews with Henry Rollins, one from 1993, and one from this year. I thought the first one was timely given my report on the HR dream I had the other day in which he said “In existentialism, I exist”. In this interview HR says: “I’m an existentialist by default but I hate it!”. Ha! The second one is from the Texas Punks website. HR talks about the guy who crashed his plane in Austin recently.

Interview – Henry Rollins (Austin Plane Crash)
First up, NO! I didn’t forget about HR’s birthday. Thank you for your emails. I just wasn’t around to do a b’day post… what ever that is.
Here’s a new interview recently uploaded to You Tube by Under Your Skin.
Aussie rockers the Hard Ons and Henry Rollins covering the AC/DC classic Let There Be Rock. I think it’s from around 1991? Blimey! That’s almost 20 years ago. Hands up if this makes you feel OLD! Worth getting your hands on a copy if you can, the B-side Carry Me Down is pretty cool too. It’s out of print but readily available in every format under the sun – 7″, 10″, 12″, CD and cassette. I have the Ltd Ed. 2×10″ version on Waterfront records (which is still trading as an online store). Regarding the Hard Ons, Iggy Pop says: “Man! These guys are great! I love the fat guy!”
On December 19 1991, Henry Rollins’ best friend and roommate, Joe Cole, was shot and murdered during a robbery at the home they shared in Venice California. His murder remains unsolved. Joe Cole was a roadie for Black Flag and the Rollins Band. His memoirs of life on the road with the two bands were published after his death by 2.13.61 in the book Planet Joe. He also made a few films. God’s Movie was released by 2.13.61 and is now long out of print.

This is Henry Rollins reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ which appears on the compilation ‘A Lump of Coal’. It’s long out of print (I have a copy on cassette!). I’m pretty sure Joe Cole did the sound effects.
